Margaret 'Peggy' J. Houle
1954 - 2008

Margaret J. “Peggy” Houle, 53, of 238 Ridgewood Drive, Leominster, died Saturday, April 19, in the Hillcrest Nursing Center in Fitchburg after a courageous battle with cancer.

Peggy was born in Leominster on Nov. 29, 1954, daughter of Wilfred and Mary Gloria (Landry) Houle and was a lifelong resident. She attended St. Leo’s School, graduated from Leominster High School in 1973 and was a graduate of Holliston Junior College in Holliston. She was a member of St. Leo’s Church in Leominster. Peggy had a passion for music and playing guitar, and she enjoyed writing songs. She loved the outdoors and camping, mountains, the ocean and the sun. She loved and cared for animals of all kinds, raised horses and enjoyed horseback riding. She worked a variety of jobs involving pet care. She loved spending time with her family and friends and will be remembered for her undeniable strength and her kind heart.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne E. Houle of Leominster; her mother, Mary Gloria (Landry) Houle of Leominster; three sisters, Judith Mariano of Derry, N.H., Carol Allain of Leominster and Mary Liljengren of Greenville, N.H.; two nieces, Heather Austin of Fitchburg and Katie McDonough of Lusby, Md.; four nephews, Frank Mariano of Derry, N.H., Nicholas Allain of Leominster, David “DJ” Liljengren of Greenville, N.H., Bobby McDonough of Skipwith, Va.; a great-niece, Alava Mariano of Derry, N.H.; and a great-nephew, Alexander Allain of Leominster. She was predeceased by her father, Wilfred R. “Cy” Houle, in 2004; and her brother, Martin McDonough, in 2007.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 23, from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., Leominster, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Leo’s Church, 128 Main St., Leominster. Burial was at a later date. Calling hours were held on Tuesday, April 22, from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
